ANXIETY

A lot of the traditional therapy approaches still treat anxiety as the problem only rather than a symptom of something deeper.
However, in the holistic perspective which combines wider perspective from somatic therapy, energetics, and the ways subconscious works, anxiety usually is a symptom of a deeper root cause.
Our subconscious mind (and psyche in general) is always working to function in the best ways it can, or is capable in the moment. The brain is wired in the way to keep us safe and protected, preserving energy and trying to keep us "safe" internally - even if it means self sabotage, or anxiety.
The thing with the subconscious is that the mind is always "doing the best" with the current internal beliefs system it has at the moment.
Any kind of limiting beliefs, internal conflicts or suppressed feelings we may have can manifest as anxiety - because when we have fears that are still not being consciously processed, the body contains all of our subconscious tensions. If we avoid looking deeper, the psyche simply gets overload and sends symptoms that we can no longer ignore.
Whatever the cause of anxiety may be - internal conflicts, limiting beliefs or trauma - it's important to understand that body also can get u s e d to stay in a state of anxiety - the longer you are in it, the harder it may feel to change it at first, and there are scientific explanations why.
But before I give you all the scientific explanations, let's focus on one very important one: your body gets the feeling of safety "BOTTOM UP" - meaning from the body to the mind. That's how our vagus nerve gives us a sense of safety. That's why only talking about problems usually helps short term, or not in a sustainable, or deeply integrated way.
So if you've tried many things when it comes to anxiety - the essential one for sustainable change is actually incorporating the body... And starting to build safety there by feeling (step by step) your sensations, feelings in the present moment.
Come back to the body with gentle movement, somatic therapy, breathing... It may not be easy to know where to begin if you're just starting. Follow me on instagram (@soma_trust) where I share more on how to shift your state from chronically anxious to a regulated one.
And for now I gently invite you to come back to your body n o w .... And just for a moment - feel, what does it tell you through its sensations?
